Toucan Costa Rica

Intermediate Circuit: 15 Days

Your 15 day/14-night adventure visiting the four corners of Costa Rica will be exciting and filled with opportunities to connect with nature in the most beautiful parts of this amazing country.  From the city vibe rich in history to both the Caribbean Sean and the Pacific Ocean and the rural landscapes in between, Costa Rica is a land of contrasts and diversity.

Welcome to Costa Rica´s historical and cultural epicenter. San José is busy and bustling and home to many historical landmarks in the form of parks, architecture, inner-city suburbs, the iconic National Theater, and museums.  Filled with restaurants, bars and casinos, San José is lively and dynamic. It is also close to volcanoes, coffee plantations and rural towns that dot the mountains on either side of the Central Valley. (2 nights)

Tortuguero is compared to the Amazons thanks to its winding water canals that snake through dense, rainforest that is home to wildlife and birdlife in abundance. Where boats replace cars, Tortuguero takes on a different pace that moves with the tides.   With its Caribbean influence, enjoy not only your immersion in nature, but also the gastronomy and culture. (2 nights)

Next stop is on the far southern corner of the Caribbean Sea that is a stark contrast to Tortuguero.  Beautiful, tropical rainforest-laden beaches, coral reefs, calypso, and the Caribbean vibe will enchant you.  Time takes a new rhythm in this part of the world. (2 nights)

We begin our journey across the country to the Pacific Ocean but not before spending some time in one of Costa Rica´s rural countryside and the pretty town of Turrialba, home to the best white-water rafting in the country, the lively Turrialba Volcano, dairy farming, and coffee plantations.  A day in the country! (1 night)

From the rural landscape to the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula on the spectacular Pacific Ocean. From the mountains to the sea!  This small, secluded coastal paradise is a favorite for surfers, yoga enthusiasts and the lovers of the sun and the beach.  White-sanded beaches, wide-open ocean and the warmth of the tropical sun are your companions here. (2 nights)

Our journey along the Pacific Ocean coastline continues as we make our way down to the Central Pacific region that is home to some of Costa Rica´s most well-known beach spots including Jaco and Manuel Antonio.  With lots of activities to enjoy on the water or up in the rainforest-laden mountains, it is no wonder that this area is so popular. (2 nights)

Considered to host 2.5% of the world´s biodiversity, Corcovado/Golfo Dulce, on the far southern Pacific Coast is a nature-lovers dream come true.  Thriving with wildlife, this region remains virgin and secluded; a perfect place to truly immerse in nature and sustainability practices.  A paradise in paradise.  (2 nights)

As our trip begins to wind down, we return to the mountain and the rural settings to enjoy the coolness of the altitudes and home to the elusive Quetzal bird. Enjoy the fresh, mountain air while exploring the trails, coffee plantations and the rivers that flow down in the valley.  (1 night)

Back to the bustle of San Jose for your last night before departing.  We hope you enjoyed your journey around Costa Rica experiencing the very best of this little country that is big on contrast and diversity.  (1 night)
